LISBON FALLS — Jessica Campbell posted a doubledouble as the Lisbon High School girls basketball team improved to 6-7 with a 55-38 Mountain Valley Conference victory over winless Winthrop on Saturday.

Campbell had 21 points and 15 rebounds to go along with four steals to pace the 6- 7 Greyhounds, who host Mt. Abram on Monday at 5: 30 p.m.

Lisbon jumped on top 20-10 in the first quarter, held a 35- 18 edge at the break and 44-30 advantage through 24 minutes.

Alexa Harmon had 12 points, Sarah Giraldo 10 and Bailey Madore eight for the Greyhounds, who finished nine of 16 at the foul line.

Jess Scott had a team-high 17 points for Winthrop (0-14). The Ramblers were five of 15 from the charity stripe.

The host Dragons held a four-point lead heading to the fourth quarter, but the 11-3 Eddies made 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull out a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win on Friday.

“ We led for a lot of the game, but we lost Liz Faulkner to fouls with six minutes left,” said Brunswick coach Sam Farrell, whose team dropped to 4- 10 and visits Oxford Hills on Tuesday. “We have lost 10 games this season, and seven of them we were down just two points in the last two minutes. This group of girls is close and works so hard. We played so well defensively on Friday.”

After trailing 14-8 after a quarter, the Dragons pulled into a 19-19 deadlock at the half. Brunswick went ahead 34-30 through three quarters.

Julia Champagne led the Dragons with 12 points, Mel Bryant chipped in 11 and Lyse Henshaw canned eight. Liz Carlton pulled down four rebounds and dished out two assists, Faulkner grabbed 11 caroms, had three assists and blocked three shots, and Bryant had six rebounds and two assists. Brunswick finished eight of 11 at the line.

Ashlee Arnold scored seven of her game-high 17 points at the charity stripe in the fourth, while Kate Sawyer added 10 points. The Eddies were 17 of 23 at the foul line.

MONMOUTH 55

Host Monmouth Academy improved to 7-8 Saturday with quarterly leads of 10-4, 20-15 and 38-21.

Wiscasset dipped to 2- 12 and is scheduled to host St. Dom’s on Tuesday.

Kylie Kemp tossed in 22 points for the Mustangs, while Kristine Kahl had 11 and Daisi Poole 10. Kahl also grabbed 12 rebounds, Molly Menice 10 and Kemp eight.

In the Wiscasset effort, Heidi Pinkham had nine points, Kayla Connors eight and Alecia Faulkingham five.

Morgan Cahill scored 25 points as the Clippers handed the visiting Falcons their sixth consecutive loss in Western Maine Conference play on Friday.

Yarmouth jumped out to a 10-3 first-quarter lead. The edge was 16-9 at the half, but Freeport (5-9) battled back to take a 29-27 advantage to the fourth quarter.

“We climbed back through our press, but then we couldn’t stop Cahill in the fourth quarter as she had 12 points,” said Freeport coach Jen Chon, whose Falcons head to Fryeburg Academy on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.).

Aubrey Pennell played for the first time this season (injured back) for Freeport, scoring seven points in limited time. Leigh Wyman paced the Falcons with 10 points, while Nina Davenport added nine points.

Lane Simsarian and Jeanna Lowery chipped in six points apiece for 6- 8 Yarmouth.
