BRUNSWICK — In conjunction with the National Association for Girls and Women in Sports, Bowdoin College is set to host its annual Girls and Women in Sports Weekend on Feb. 11-12.
All events are free of charge and will begin with the first-ever “Luncheon with the Polar Bears” for girls in grades 6-9 on Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. After the lunch with the Polar Bears, the young athletes will head to Morrell Gymnasium to cheer on the Bowdoin women’s basketball squad against New England Small College Athletic Conference rival Connecticut College at 2 p.m.
On Feb. 12, all girls in grades kindergarten to 12th grade are invited to the Girls & Women in Sports Day at Farley Field House, where they will attend free sport clinics taught by Bowdoin varsity women student-athletes. Sports scheduled to be included are basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, tennis, track and volleyball.
Pizza and snacks will be provided. The event will run from noon to 2 p.m. for grades K-3 and 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for grades 4-12.
