TOPSHAM — Mt. Ararat High School outscored visiting Erskine Academy 16-9 in the second quarter en route to a 56-45 Eastern Maine Class A girls basketball win on Monday.
The Eagles improved to 9-5 and are scheduled to visit Skowhegan tonight.
Mt. Ararat posted quarterly leads of 13-10, 29-19 and 42-30 as Erskine dipped to 2-12.
Caitlin LaFountain had a strong all-around game with 16 points, six steals, four rebounds and two assists.
Chelsea Crawford chipped in with 11 points, Mallory Nelson 10 points and 10 rebounds, Leah Hitchcock seven points and six rebounds, Molly Estes six points and four caroms, and Kristi Willey four points, five assists and six rebounds.
Meryl Bond paced Erskine with 14 points and Bridget Humphrey had 11.
Mt. Ararat was 24 of 59 from the floor and five of six from the foul line, while the visitors shot 16 of 53 from the floor and seven of 13 at the charity stripe.

The visiting Roadrunners held the Greyhounds to just nine first-half points in taking a Mountain Valley Conference win at Lisbon Falls.
Mt. Abram (8-7) trailed 7-2 after a quarter, but pulled into a 15-9 lead at the half. The visitors took a 32-20 lead to the fourth quarter.
“We shot poorly from the field,” said Lisbon coach Julie Wescott, whose team dropped to 6-8 and visits St. Dom’s on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Alexa Harmon nailed four 3-pointers for the Greyhounds to finish with a team-high 13 points. Denise Thomas added nine points and five rebounds, with Jessica Campbell finishing with eight points and five caroms.
Miranda Smith scored a game-high 16 points for Mt. Abram. Annie Dexter chipped in 10.

In Class B action Saturday in Rockland, Oceanside outscored Morse 21-13 in the second quarter en route to the win.
Oceanside ( Rockland/ Georges Valley) posted leads of 17- 15, 38- 28 and 46-36 with Jill Bradbury and Kennedie Grover scoring 17 points each.
In the Morse effort, Katie Henrikson and Bri Bigelow had 15 points each and Kerry Cummings chipped in with seven.
“ Oceanside is very tall, very athletic,” said Morse coach Mike Hart. “And, they shot the ball very, very well.”
At the foul line, Morse was 14 of 22 and Oceanside nine of 13.

In South China on Monday, host Erskine Academy tallied 18 points down the stretch to improve to 6-8, while the visiting Eagles dipped to 1-13 in Eastern Maine Class A play.
Shyler Scates led the way with 18 points, while Tom Grady chipped in with 17.
Josh Wright scored 13 points for Mt. Ararat, scheduled to host Skowhegan tonight.
