RANGELEY — Jamie Plummer finished her 18- point performance with a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left as the Richmond High School girls basketball team picked up a big 43- 40 East-West Conference victory over rival Rangeley on Monday.

The Bobcats, the No. 1 team in the Western Maine Class D Heal Point Standings, improved to 14-1 and visits Buckfield tonight, while the Lakers fell to 15-2.

“ This was a big win in a game we were looking forward to playing,” said Richmond coach Molly Bishop, whose team concludes the regular season on Friday at home against Greenville. “This was a good, competitive game. Our defense led to our offense and made things a lot easier.”

Richmond led 8- 7 after a quarter, 21-17 at the half and 33-23 through three quarters. Rangeley clawed back in the fourth, getting to 41-40. But, Plummer, who had seven rebounds, made it a threepoint game and the Lakers turned the ball over on their last possession.

Birthday girl Alyssa Pearson had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Danica Hurley dished out four assists and added eight points for Richmond, which was 12 of 17 at the foul line.

Taylor Esty and Jenny Abbott led Rangeley with 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Lakers finished eight of 19 at the charity stripe.

GARDINER GIRLS 53 MORSE 33

Visiting Gardiner ( 13- 2) outscored the Shipbuilders 31- 12 over the middle two periods en route to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win at Bath on Friday.

“ We didn’t have Katie ( Henrikson), who was out with the flu, so there are a consistent 15 points we didn’t get,” said Morse coach Mike Hart, whose team dropped to 7- 9 and visits Leavitt tonight at 7 p.m. “We need to win at Leavitt or home against Medomak Valley ( Thursday) to get into the playoffs. Two wins would guarantee it.”

The Shipbuilders are two spots and 13 Heal Points out of a Western Maine Class B playoff spot.

Tori Field paced Morse with 15 points and two assists. Kerry Cummings added six points and three steals, while Sadia Crosby pulled down 12 rebounds.

Gardiner, which turned an 11-11 first-quarter deadlock into a 28- 17 halftime edge, received 12 points from Katie McAllister and eight each from Kylie Granholm and Paige Pillsbury.

HYDE BOYS 52 SAC. VALLEY 35

Warsame Mohamed popped for 10 of his 18 points in the third quarter as Class D Hyde ran away from Class C Sacopee Valley at South Hiram.

The teams were tied 12-12 after a quarter, and the Phoenix grabbed a 19-17 lead at the half. Hyde (14-1) outscored the 5-11 Hawks 20-11 in the third quarter for a 39-28 advantage.

Mike Anderson paced Sacopee Valley with 19 points.

Tyquan Ekejiuba chipped in 10 points for the Phoenix, who host AR Gould today at 6:30 p.m.

SAC. VALLEY 30 HYDE GIRLS 14

Cassandra Miner had eight points as the Hawks downed Hyde at Bath.

Kathryn Comeaux led the Phoenix with a game-high 12 points, but Hyde struggled throughout, scoring just two points in the first half.

Sacopee Valley ( 6- 10) jumped on top 7-0 through a quarter, led 13-2 at the half and 20-10 through 24 minutes.

The contest was the season finale for Hyde, which finished 0-16.

RICH. BOYS 37 RANGELEY 45

In East- West Conference play Monday, the visiting Bobcats dipped to 4-12 and visit Buckfield tonight.

Richmond trailed 13-7, 18-15 and 27-18 at the period breaks as Eric White scored 21 and Alex Martin eight for the hosts.

Ben Carver tossed in eight points and Brian Snedeker added seven for Rangeley.

At the foul line, Richmond was six of 14 and Rangeley 10 of 12.

MONMOUTH 52 LISBON BOYS 43

Seniors Mason Smith and Derrick Lycette played their last high school basketball game for the Greyhounds in a Mountain Valley Conference loss to Monmouth at Lisbon Falls.

“ This my third year coaching varsity, plus I did a year of jayvee, and I had Mason Smith during his entire career,” said Lisbon ( 1- 17) coach Eric Hall. “Mason led us at the point — not an easy position, and Derrick gave us someone who could step outside and hit a three plus be physical inside.”

Jacob Bremmer paced Lisbon in this one with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Smith chipped in 10 points and three steals. Tucker Brannon dished out four assists, and the Greyhounds were two of seven at the foul line.

Brandon Goff scored a game-high 18 points for 3-14 Monmouth, which was 15 of 22 at the charity stripe.
