Shelby St. Andre, left, and Nels Omdal, at right, take a break from preparations for Saturday’s grand reopening of Frosty’s Donuts on Maine Street in Brunswick. The shop opens at 8 a.m. The husband and wife purchased the business in January and have hired two employees, including John Frost, the son of Frosty’s founders Bob and June Frost, to help them prepare Brunswick’s signature doughnuts for a downtown revival. This morning, at center, Omdal reviews the product of an overnight baking session. Earlier today, at top, Omdal handed out several dozen free doughnuts to passers-by to spread the word that the shop is back in business. St. Andre said her son, Nick, has already handed out more than 300 free doughnut coupons to classmates at Coffin School, and the couple is preparing to bake 200 dozen doughnuts for the grand opening, which will last until 1 p.m. or until the doughnuts run out, Omdal said. For the first day, Omdal said, the business will only be able to complete cash transactions.
