The Four Seasons Quilters are displaying some of their work this month at the Falmouth Memorial Library.

Library hours are Monday, Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Cat adoption discount

HART of Maine, a no-kill adoption center and shelter for cats, is offering an adoption special this month.

All black and black and white adult cats are $37.50 – half the regular  $75 adoption fee.

Open house hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays at the shelter, 302 Range Road.

Greely awarded honors

Greely High School earned top honors at the World Affairs Council of Maine’s annual WorldQuest international trivia contest on Feb. 1.

Twenty-four teams competed in WorldQuest 2012, including 15 teams representing eight area high schools. Also competing were teams of adults representing seven businesses organizations and the University of New England.

The Greely High School team members are Ian Philbrick, Robert Potts and Hanna Willwerth.  The team is coached by Jason Curry, a social studies teacher at Greely. The students are now eligible to attend the national Academic WorldQuest, to be held on April 21 in Washington, D.C.

Clothing drive

A local women’s wear retailer is holding a clothing donation drive from March 1 through 4 to support women re-entering the work force.

Dress for Success is seeking to gather more than 60,000 articles of clothing as part of its S.O.S. – Send One Suit – weekend donation drive.

It’s the 10th consecutive year that Dressbarn and Dress for Success have partnered to help women in need.

The Dressbarn, located at Mall Side Plaza in South Portland, will serve as a drop-off spot.

PORTLAND

‘Rock Camp’

The Maine Academy of Modern Music is holding a “Rock Camp,” from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 20 through 24 at Breakwater School, 856 Brighton Ave.

The camp gives young aspiring musicians a place to learn rock ‘n’ roll and have fun during their winter break. The course in modern music covers song writing, recording and tips on how to start a band.

The camp is for kids ages 10 years old and older. The cost is $300.

WINDHAM

Service trip to Guatemala

Steve and Erica Bridge of Windham recently completed a weeklong service trip to Guatemala sponsored by Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.

Steve Bridge is a theology professor at the college. In cooperation with Partners in Development of Ipswich, Mass., three faculty members and a 10-member student team worked at a medical clinic in the tiny village of Concepcion. Nursing students helped to staff the medical clinic, while the construction team volunteers helped to build an expansion for the clinic.

Saint Joseph’s College has sent volunteer teams to Guatemala for seven years.
