PROMOTIONS
• Rebecca West Greenfield, Marianna Putnam Liddell, Gavin McCarthy and Katharine Rand joined the partnership at Pierce Atwood LLP.
All four new partners were part of the summer associate program in 2002.
Greenfield, of Portland, joined the firm as an associate in 2003.
Liddell, of Yarmouth, joined the firm as an associate in 2003. Liddell is a member of the trusts and estates practice group.
McCarthy, of Portland, has been a member of the litigation group since joining the firm in 2003. His practice focuses on class-action defense and construction litigation.
Rand, of Portland, joined the firm as an associate in the employment practice group in 2004 after clerking for U.S. District Court Judge D. Brock Hornby.
AWARDS
• Richard Lent, a Latin teacher at Leavitt Area High School in Turner, was recently awarded the Patience W. Norman Prize for Teacher Excellence. Lent has been teaching in RSU 52 since 1985.
EXPANDING
• Southern Maine Medical Center PrimeCare Physicians expanded its services in Saco, adding a second physician office at the former University of New England’s University Health Care Center on Route 1. The office includes family practice services and osteopathic manipulative medicine services. The site will also offer new X-ray and lab services, with a Walk-In Care Clinic expected to open this spring.
BOARD APPOINTMENTS
• Tammy Michaud of BerryDunn was appointed to the American Health Care Association Not-for-Profit Council. She coordinates the firm’s Not-for-Profit Group and provides audit and consulting services to the firm’s health care clients.
• Brian Dudley was appointed to the Civic Center board of trustees. Dudley is development director at Cheverus High School and represents Portland and Long Island.
Neal Pratt was re-elected chair of the board; Betheda Edmonds was elected vice-chair; and Joe Gray was elected treasurer.
• Dr. Steve Sutton, an associate professor at the University of New England, was appointed chair of UNE’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy. Since 2009, Sutton has been a key leader in the implementation and growth of the department and the College of Pharmacy at UNE.
• Michele Martin was elected to the Maine Center for Creativity’s board of directors. Martin has been with TD Bank in marketing since 2005 and is a longtime member of the Mitchell Institute alumni council.
• John Osborne, general manager of Hollywood Slots Hotel & Raceway, was renamed chair of the board of the Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau.
• Kelly McDonald, an attorney at the Portland law firm Murray, Plumb & Murray, was elected chair of the board of directors of MaineShare. McDonald, of Portland, has served on the board since 2007.
MaineShare appointed the following people to its board of directors: Rebecca Halbook is a retired lawyer from Phippsburg; Elizabeth Finch is the Lunder Curator of American Art at Colby College; and Pete Roehrig heads community and government relations at Efficiency Maine.
