AUGUSTA — Peter Rogers, Gov. Paul LePage’s outgoing communications director, will be the new acting director of the Maine State Planning Office.

Rogers was to be sworn in today, said Press Secretary Adrienne Bennett. He will replace Richard Swanson Jr., who resigned as acting director today after his arrest Monday for allegedly operating under the influence. Swanson was named acting director in November. He replaced Darryl Brown.

Rogers joined the administration last summer, replacing Dan Demeritt as communications director. He resigned last week effective at the end of this week.

Before taking the job in the LePage administration, Rogers was deputy commissioner for the state Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management. He also was spokesman for the Maine National Guard during the Gulf War.
