AUGUSTA — Heating oil prices rose 2 cents a gallon on average in Maine last week, the fifth week in a row that prices have gone up.

Maine’s energy office said today that the average statewide price of No. 2 oil was $3.79 a gallon. Northern Maine had the highest average price, while prices were lowest in the southwestern part of the state.

Director Ken Fletcher says crude oil prices are the highest they’ve been since last May amid turmoil in Iran and Syria and potential inroads to resolving the Greek economic crisis, but that supplies appear to be adequate to meet global demand.

Kerosene was averaging $4.18 a gallon, up a penny from a week ago. Propane was selling for $3.19 a gallon on average, up 2 cents.
