CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Bowdoin College women’s squash team finished its season 20th in the nation after a 1-2 performance at the College Squash Association Team National Tournament last weekend at Harvard.

Playing in the Walker Cup Division, the Polar Bears picked up a first-round win over Wellesley (9-0), but lost to Wesleyan (8-1) in the second round. In the consolation final, Amherst took a 9-0 win over the Polar Bears to finish off Bowdoin’s season with a record of 13-14.

Bowdoin picked up victories across the board in their opening win over Wellesley. The Polar Bears did not lose a single set in any of the nine matches en route to the win.

Bowdoin did not fare as well against the Cardinals in the semifinals, as Michaela Martin was the lone Polar Bear to earn a point. Christiana Whitcomb and Gretchen Williams both lost hard-fought five-set matches at number eight and nine, respectively.

In their season finale Sunday against the Jeffs, Whitcomb and Elizabeth Schetman both pushed their matches to the limit before falling.
