Several local musicians will rock the gym at Mt. Ararat High School from 7 p. m. to 10 p. m. Saturday to raise money for the class of 2012’s Project Graduation activities.

Saturday’s fundraising event is called the MTA Band Blitz. Three Mt. Ararat high school bands — Simplicity, Set Your Sights and Trouble In The West — will perform, according to the event’s Facebook page. The night promises “New songs, great music and an amazing time to help out the class of 2012 for project grad!”

Dawn Prindall, who helped organize the event, said one of the members of Simplicity, Nathan Jackson, came up with the idea of holding the band blitz as a fundraiser. Two of the bands are made up of all seniors, but also performing is freshman Charlie Gill’s band, Trouble in the West.

Each band will perform about 35 minutes. The transition time between performances will be short, Prindall said, because the bands are using the same equipment.

This is a family event so the bands have been asked to edit any inappropriate lyrics.

There will be areas for seating and dancing. The class of 2015 will provide concessions and conduct a raffle, with proceeds benefiting safe graduation celebration activities for the class of 2012.

Tickets cost $5 in advance or $7 at the door. For advance tickets, call Dawn Prindall at 833-6990.

The class of 2012 has scheduled several events to raise money for a chemical- free whitewater rafting trip with Adventure Bound after this year’s graduation ceremony.

The next scheduled fundraising event is an appearance by hypnotist Paul Ramsay at 7 p.m. March 16 at Mt. Ararat High School. Tickets to Ramsay’s show cost $8 in advance or $10 at the door.
