BRUNSWICK
Stephanie Boucher joins Greater Brunswick Peace- Works planning team as coordinator of the group’s eighth annual Peace Fair, which is scheduled for Aug. 4 on the Brunswick Mall.
“ The Peace Fair looks at and celebrates the growing interest around the world to create a new culture based on compassion and sustainable practices, one that grows as we learn to treat ourselves, each other and our natural resources with love rather than dominance,” a Peace- Works release states.
The fair brings together artists, poets, musicians, activists and representatives of Maine nonprofit and community groups for family activities and discussions.
Boucher brings experience in “permaculture design and sustainable living skills, education, DIY music venue hosting and food justice activism,” to her new role, according to the release. She has also been active in the local Occupy Brunswick group.
“ I hope to keep intact aspects of the fair that people enjoy, while also injecting some new energy, ideas and perspectives on peace, both from myself and the larger community,” Boucher said in the release.
She encourages people with suggestions about the fair to contact her at [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
