DAMARISCOTTA

“ Sex in the Sixties: An Evening of FourPlay( s)” opens this evening and runs through March 11 at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta.

Presented by the Lincoln County Community Theater, the show consists of four oneact stories by playwrights Murray Schisgal and Robert Anderson.

Schisgal co-wrote the screenplay for the movie “Tootsie,” for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.

“ Sex in the Sixties: An Evening of FourPlay(s)” is “a humorous look at the familiar yet often taboo subject of sex, filtered through the lens of the 1960s, when the prudish 1950s were giving way to birth control and free love,” the release states. “While the four one-act plays have a different take on the subject of sex, from nudity and single beds, to sex therapy and old age, the subject of marriage is at the heart of all four.”

The show is for mature audiences due to the subject matter. Performances hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. today, Saturday, March 9 and March 10, as well as at 2 p.m. Sunday and March 11.

Tickets cost $12 or $10 for theater members and are available at the Lincoln Theater and at The Maine Coast Bookshop. For reservations and information, call 563-3424.
