BIDDEFORD — Gov. Paul LePage has a better understanding about the economic importance of the University of New England in Biddeford.

The governor was welcomed Monday to the campus by President Danielle Ripich, who says UNE’s economic impact to Maine approaches $560 million annually.

LePage also took a driving tour of the Harold Alfond Forum construction site, met with Doctors for Maine’sFuture Scholarship students from the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and visited UNE’s George and Barbara Bush Legacy Collection at the George and Barbara Bush Center.
