WINSLOW — Police arrested a man early Sunday morning after he threw a television at his girlfriend.

The man, Zackery Ryan Eaton, 22, of 45 Elm St., Apt. 4, Waterville, was at a Cushman Avenue apartment Saturday night with four other people, including his girlfriend, according to police chief Jeff Fenlason.

Eaton and his girlfriend of several years were arguing when Eaton picked up a flat-screen television and threw it at her, striking her in the head. Eaton then threw the TV a second time, which smashed a hole in a wall, Fenlason said.

The girlfriend, who Fenlason wouldn’t name, wasn’t seriously injured and did not require medical attention.

Fenlason said the girlfriend fled to a neighboring apartment while Eaton was forced outside by a friend.

Police arrested Eaton a few hours later at his residence in Waterville and charged him with domestic violence assault, a class C felony which is punishable by up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines. He is scheduled to appear in Kennebec County Superior Court on April 10. He is currently held at Kennebec County Jail on $500 bail.

Fenlason said Eaton was convicted of domestic violence assault in January 2009 in Waterville District Court.
