BRUNSWICK — Freeport nipped Ararat 25-20 Sunday afternoon to win the Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department’s Third- Fourth Grade Girls Basketball Tournament.

 

 

Lindsay Routhier scored 10 points and Caroline Smith added nine, while Hannah Spaulding and Asha Leigh were offensive contributors for Freeport.

 

 

Freeport trailed 6-4, 8-6 and 14-10 at the quarter breaks before Routhier scored six fourth- quarter points and Smith seven.

At the foul line, Freeport was three of eight and Ararat nine of 24.

In the Ararat offense, Reese Turcotte and Bryanne Lancaster had five points each and Roxanne Sasse four, while Amelia Slocumb, Anna Jackson and Breanne McCourt helped out on offense.

 

 

Ararat 23, Windham 15

The eight-team tournament got under way Saturday afternoon as Ararat led 7-4, 11-7 and 17-7 at the breaks, with Lancaster popping in 10 points and Turcotte four.

Ararat was three of four at the line and Windham one of six. Alexandra Hammond paced Windham with six points and Molly Hodgkins added five.

Topsham 26, Yarmouth 18

In the night’s second contest, Topsham posted quarterly leads of 8-4, 14-6 an 21-12 as Theresa Breed scored 15 points, Hannah Kenney five and Kyla Greenleaf four, while Lauren Magno also chipped in with some support.

Topsham was two of six at the foul line and Yarmouth zero of two.

Hope Olson paced Yarmouth with eight points, and Ella Caruso and Adriana Whitlock split eight down the middle.

Freeport 17, Brunswick 12

Freeport opened with a win over Brunswick as Smith scored seven points and Catriona Gould four, while Hannah Spaulding, Routhier and Annika Thomas chipped in with a basket each.

Freeport led 8-4, 9-8 and 13-10 at the breaks.

Freeport was also one of two at the line and Brunswick did not attempt a free throw.

In the Brunswick effort, Isabella Banks had six points, and Michaela Ashby, Caroline Heyburn and Nadia Sinsmyr helped out of offense.

Falmouth 43, Bath 2

Bath got off to a rocky start, trailing 14-2, 25-2 and 39-2 at the breaks.

In the Falmouth effort, Camille Clement popped in 13 points, Anika Hester added 10, and Maddie Glidden and Alexa Bugbee six each.

Falmouth was one of six at the line and Bath zero of two.

Chloe Bradford accounted for Bath’s points.

Ararat 24, Topsham 19

In a wild, overtime semifinal affair, Ararat’s Sasse had a key steal and conversion in the OT period to seal the win.

Turcotte poured 15 points for Ararat, while Olivia Palmer, Sasse, Jaden Lohr and Lancaster helped out. Ararat was four of nine at the line.

In the Topsham effort, Theresa Breed had 11 points and Magno four points, while Greenleaf was an offensive contributor.

Topsham was one of four at the line and Ararat four of nine.

Freeport 20, Falmouth 19

In a competitive semifinal clash, Freeport advanced to the title game as Smith popped in 11 points and Gould, Routhier, Tara Migiaccio, Sarah Gray and Leigh helped the offense.

At the line, Freeport was four of nine and Falmouth five of eight.

Clement paced the losing effort with seven points and Bugbee chipped in with six.

Yarmouth 19, Windham 14

In the first of two consolation games, Hope Olson scored six points and Faith Cleaves added five for Yarmouth.

After a 4- 4 first- quarter stalemate, Yarmouth led 12-6 at the half and the teams were tied at 14 after three quarters of play.

Hodgkins led Windham with eight points.

Windham was two of two at the line and Yarmouth one of two.

Brunswick 24, Bath 4

In the second consolation game, Banks and Grace Clendening each scored six points, and Hannah Dobes and Sinsmyr added four points each. Brunswick was zero of seven at the line and Bath zero of 10.

Hannah Gates scored all four of Bath’s points.
