BATH — Judith Catherine Hudson went home to be with our heavenly Father on Monday, March 12, 2012 at her home surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on October 31, 1944, to Irving and Matilda (Gallant) Layton. Judy married her best friend and soul mate, David Earl Hudson in Bath, Maine in 1963. She worked for 20 years in the Topsham School department with kids who had special needs. She also worked at Grand City for three years until their closing, but she continued to go out to lunch with her fellow colleagues quite often. Of all the jobs her favorite was being Nana. She loved her grandchildren very much and took great pride in them.

Judy was a very talented woman who enjoyed making crafts, cooking, and being a seamstress. She adored birthday parties with her sisters, playing cards and bingo with friends and family. She always found the good in people, was quick witted, and she had a smile that could light up a room. She could always make someone laugh despite the circumstance with her uplifting sense of humor.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 48 years David Earl Hudson; son Tim and wife Cindy Hudson of Windsor and their children, David and his fiancée Jem, Kaci and her fiancé John, Jacob and Jared; son Todd and wife Insook Hudson of Bremen and their daughters, Jennifer and Jessica; son Troy Hudson of Whitefield.

She is also survived by her siblings: sister Mary Bowen from Brighton, Massachusetts; sister Betty Baker and husband Bruce of Newcastle; sister Peggy Hartley and husband Gary of Bath; her brother John Layton of Wiscasset; sister Leah Lawrence and husband Norman of Topsham; sister Ellen Brewer and husband Bob of Bath; her Aunt Leah Coleman of Bath; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister Theresa Fitzgerald as well as parents Irving and Matilda Layton.

The family would like to express our greatest appreciation to all of the nurses at Parkview Adventist Hospital. If you would like to make a memorial donation in Judy’s name, the family would appreciate it if you made one to a charity of your choice.

Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 3 p. m. on Friday, March 16, at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. To share your thoughts and condolences with Judy’s family, please visit www.desmondfuneralhomes.com.
