Rockland Community Sailing’s high school sailing team will host a spring kickoff meeting at 7 p.m. March 29 at the Apprenticeship office building, 643 Main St. The meeting will offer a chance for midcoast area students in grades seven through 12 and their parents to learn more about the team.

The Maine Games is accepting applications for its national anthem audition, which will be held at Kora Shrine Temple in Lewiston at 2 p.m. April 14. The winner of the audition will have a chance to sing the anthem at a Portland Sea Dogs game, the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl and Maine Games events. Mercy Hospital will hold a free-throw tournament to kick off its Best Shot for Youth Initiative at 12:30 p.m. April 1 at the Portland Expo. The tournament is free and open to all York and Cumberland county students in grades six through 12. Falmouth Little League and Falmouth Youth Soccer Association will hold an evening with Bob Bigelow, a national speaker on the needs of children in sports, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 4 at the Falmouth Elementary School cafeteria. Bigelow is the author of “Just Let the Kids Play,” which describes systemic problems in youth sports and offers reforms to improve kids’ experiences.
