WORCESTER, Mass. — Spencer Abbott has been cleared medically to play for the University of Maine in tonight’s NCAA Northeast Regional.

Abbott had been ruled unable to play for the past week after suffering an apparent concussion in Maine’s game with Boston University in the Hockey East semifinals last weekend.

Abbott is the top scorer in college hockey this season, skating on Maine’s first line with senior Brian Flynn and junior Joey Diamond. Abbott did take part in a light practice Friday afternoon but was to be tested again Saturday before Maine played Minnesota-Duluth.

Maine delayed releasing its line sheets, which is similar to baseball’s batting order, until about 6 p.m.
