To the editor:
With all of the bleating going on, especially from many of the male population, regarding health insurance that covers women’s gynecological diagnoses, including birth control pills that are used for many conditions, I had to make a response.
It is the female body that is treated, not anyone else, and females should make the decision with their doctor on what treatment to be used, even if it should be birth control pills.
Now let’s change and mention Viagra. I do not believe this medication is used for health issues, but it is used to treat a male dysfunctional issue that involves ego. And it is paid for by Medicare.
Does anyone else see what is going on? This attitude is archaic. Medicare should provide health care for women and not make it a political issue.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
