BOWDOINHAM — A Bowdoinham man was burned when his shirt caught fire on a propane stove burner Tuesday night, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department.
Lt. Calvin Temple said the man who was injured lives with his girlfriend in a camper on Wallentine Road. They heat the camper by leaving on the burners of the propane stove. Temple said the man inadvertently backed into the stove and his shirt caught fire and badly burned his back, shoulders and part of his neck.
Bowdoinham EMS responded, as did North East Mobile Health Services, which transported him to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
Temple said a deputy was asked to follow the ambulance to the hospital after the man became combative, though he did not know why.
The incident was reported at 9:54 p.m.
