To the editor:

We have been in Afghanistan for 10 years. That is a very long time. What are we still doing there?

The people of Afghanistan do not want us to be there. They have made that very clear on a great number of times.

There is only one decent road in the whole country. The northern tribes have nothing to do with the southern Pashtuns.

There is graft through all of Afghanistan, including — most of all — President Hamid Karzai.

So what the heck are we trying to accomplish there? Nobody knows.

Our brave troops who have been bombed and screamed at ought to be brought home as soon as possible. When some of our troops, without knowing what they were doing, burned many copies of the Quran, there was the deepest disgust among the Afghan people.

I understand that the people of Afghanistan believe the words of the Quran are sacred, but they are not more important than anything else in the world.

Our troops are the very best in the entire world. Many of them have had multiple deployments.

Many have been blown up by improvised explosives. The care we give our heroic veterans is atrocious. Have we no heart?

Let’s bring these brave and wounded soldiers back home at once.

There no longer is any excuse to allow these wounded warriors to remain in Afghanistan. Let’s bring all of our brave troops back home right now.

Anything less would be un- American. Bring the troops home how. Heaven knows they deserve it.

We ought to fly our giant airplanes to this country right now.
