Heritage Days art show seeks exhibitors

BATH — The Kennebec Art Club seeks participants for its annual “Art in the Park” feature of Heritage Days. During the festival, artists from Maine and elsewhere display their work at City Park.

The net proceeds of “Art in the Park” are used for scholarships distributed to art students from local high schools who plan to attend to college.

This year, “Art in the Park” will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 7 and 8, rain or shine. A $150 “best in show” award will be presented, along with as many as four $75 honorable mentions.

Eligible media include painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, print making and mixed media. A juror for the 2012 show has yet to be named.

Applications available for 10 X 10 show

BRUNSWICK — Arts Are Elementary invites Maine artists to submit original artwork to Brunswick’s fifth annual 10 X 10 Benefit Art Exhibit and Sale.

All accepted work is priced at $200. The artist receives $100, and $100 benefits Arts Are Elementary, a local nonprofit that provides artists in residence to all Brunswick students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

The 10 X 10 Benefit Art Exhibit and Sale is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 28 at Curtis Memorial Library and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

The following rules apply:

— Artist must be at least 18 years old.

— Artist must be a full- or part-time resident of Maine.

— Artist may submit one to three pieces.

— Work must fit within a 10-inch square format and be ready to put into a 10-inch-by- 10-inch black metal frame.

The exhibit’s organizers provide the black metal frame, foam core and optional glass. No matting is provided.

Artists invited to Brunswick festival

BRUNSWICK — The sixth annual Brunswick Outdoor Arts Festival, a juried fine arts and fine crafts show, is now accepting applications from artisans.

Sponsored by the Brunswick Downtown Association, the Brunswick Outdoor Arts Festival is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, on Maine Street.
