BATH — Susan Savell is returning to the United Church of Christ for a benefit concert on April 29.

The concert is billed as an “intimate afternoon” with Savell, with “inspirations for daily life. Savell will be accompanied by Flash Allen.

A singer/songwriter and an ordained UCC minister living in Brunswick, Savell has been performing for three decades in many varied venues —

New York City night clubs, women’s music festivals, college campuses and many church events and gatherings from coast to coast. She has spent years as a community organizer, working with two governors on behalf of children and families throughout the state, according to a news release. Savell “combines her love of music with her deep concern for positive youth development and community.”

A suggested donation of $15 is requested at the door. Children 10 and younger get in free. The concert runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at 150 Congress Ave.

Proceeds benefit the “Connecting Neighbors Challenge” of the Bath United Church of Christ. “All proceeds will go to the first ‘green church’ in Maine,” states the release. “The Bath UCC also supports the Neighborhood Café in its building which has served thousands of meals to local neighbors. Susan’s concert last year raised $1,500 for the Bath UCC Green Team and she hopes to double that amount with her ‘Back By Popular Demand’ performance.”
