GORHAM — Wheaton College sophomore right-hander Mike McGinnis combined with two relievers to limit the University of Southern Maine to four hits to lead the sixth-ranked Lyons to their 10th straight win with a 9-2 triumph over the Huskies in non-conference baseball action Sunday afternoon at the USM Baseball Stadium.
McGinnis retired the first 17 USM hitters before nicking sophomore Matt Powers with a pitch. The second-year hurler worked into the seventh inning before giving way to relievers David Longley of Brunswick and Ben Johnson, who combined for three innings of shutout relief.
Longley worked two innings, giving up one hit with one walk and a strikeout. In 14 appearances, Longley is 2-0 with two saves and 21 strikeouts in 21 innings.
Wheaton (25-4) hosts Endicott College today (3:30 p.m.).
