BATH — The 10th annual Mayfair celebration will take place at various locations in Bath on Saturday.
The day will begin with yard sales from 8 a.m. to noon in City Park on Washington Street and at private locations throughout the city. Participating yard sales will have flyers with address and item listings to help guide shoppers. The rain location for nonprofit groups will be the Elks Club on Lambard Street.
Other deals can be found from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Big Tent Sale in the municipal parking lot on Water Street, and at sidewalk sales at downtown shops throughout the day.
Free family activities include sidewalk chalk art drawing with Bath’s Art Van near City Hall, and Maypole dancing with live music on the lawn of the Customs House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bath’s new trolley will be unveiled at 10 a.m. in front of City Hall, 55 Front St. Free trolley rides will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Bath Train Station and Visitors Center will host a petting zoo of baby goats.
Shoppers and families can take part in a Downtown Scavenger Hunt. Participants will be entered in a drawing to win a $25 Gift of Bath gift certificate.
Other downtown activities include opening day of the outdoors Bath Farmers Market at Waterfront Park from 8:30 a.m. to noon; a five-year anniversary celebration at The Library Bookstore on Front Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a children’s story hour at 10:30 a.m., door prizes, and refreshments; a Cinco de Mayo celebration with drink specials, free snacks, party favors and more from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Kennebec Tavern’s riverfront patio; and Enter the Haggis in concert at the Chocolate Church Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.
A five-mile trail run called “The Murph” will take place along the Whiskeag Trail. The run aims to raise funds for Fields for Our Future. Registration runs from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Bath Area Family YMCA on Centre Street.
