BRUNSWICK — A 25-year old Brunswick woman told police she fell asleep while driving Monday morning on Bath Road, causing her car to strike a utility pole and sending her and her two children to a nearby hospital.
Kayla Seigars, 24, of 26 Dunning St., was traveling west on Bath Road just after 9 a.m. Monday when her 2003 Chrysler struck a pole directly across from Captain Mike’s Restaurant, Brunswick Police Sgt. Russ Wrede said today.
Seigars was taken to Mid Coast Hospital with an ankle injury. Her two children, a 5-year-old and an infant, were also taken to the hospital with “bumps and bruises,” Wrede said.
Central Maine Power responded to replace the cracked utility pole, and traffic was reduced to a single lane for much of the morning.
A few restaurants in the area lost power during the incident, according to Wrede.
