GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine Huskies women’s lacrosse team used a run of five consecutive goals in the first six minutes of the second half to break open the game and went on to defeat the visiting University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsairs 19-8 in Little East Conference action Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Hannaford Field.

The game was the regularseason finale for both teams.

The win gives the Huskies an overall record of 7-10, and a 3-3 mark in LEC play.

USM will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming LEC tournament that starts today, and hosts fifth-seeded Western Connecticut State University in a first-round game.

Sophomore Jacki Kelly of Brunswick paced the well-balanced Huskies offense with five goals. Juniors Lauren Sant, Shelby Turcotte and Samantha Purcell of Durham all had three goals.
