WATERVILLE — The Morse High School baseball team exploded for 10 firstinning runs en route to a 13-3 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Waterville on Thursday.
Cody Hardin singled to start the game and stole second. Trenton Moore and Zack Groat each reached on Waterville errors, and Wade Hunt walked to force in the game’s first run.
Aaron Barrett and Chris Paulus each singled in a run for a 3-0 lead.
With two outs, Hardin ripped a bases-clearing triple, with Moore singling in a run and Groat launching a tworun home run to finish off the frame.
The run support was more than enough for starter Moore, who allowed one earned run in three innings on four hits.
Liam McDonough closed the game, allowing two runs on five hits.
Each Morse hitter had at least one hit, and the 5-0 Shipbuilders, who are scheduled to host Belfast today and Maranacook on Saturday (both games 4:15 p.m.), stole eight bases.

Tyler Harrington tossed a six-hit shutout with no walks, and the visiting Bobcats played error-free baseball in an East-West Conference win over 2-3 Valley.
Harrington struck out six, and Brian Snedeker singled, doubled and drove in a run, while Peter Lorbeski’s tworun double in the third inning gave Richmond a 5-0 lead.
Randy Moody doubled and Bailey Johnson singled twice for Richmond, which is slated to host Vinalhaven on Monday at 2 p.m.
Seth Molloy and Dylan Belanger each singled twice for Valley.

Corey Henderson’s RBI single broke a 2-2 tie as the host Eddies improved to 5-2 with a KVAC win at Auburn.
Mt. Ararat, 2-4 and scheduled to visit rival Brunswick today at 4 p.m., trailed 1-0 in the sixth inning, but scored two runs on doubles by Torrey Charnock and Trent Charnock.
Torrey Charnock led the Eagles with two hits, with Brendan Glass picking up a single.
Luke Farrago went the distance for EL on four hits, seven strikeouts and two walks.

The visiting Wolverines scored six runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game, but the Roadrunners answered with a walk-off win in the bottom of the frame in Mountain Valley Conference action.
Down 6-0, Wiscasset came back to forge a 6-6 tie. Mt. Abram’s Cody Dickson reached on the Wolverines’ seventh error and later scored the winning run on a passed ball.
Eddie Stewart had a double and single to lead the offense, with Caleb Bryant adding a double, and Zach Ellison, Cory Hodgdon and Nate Howard (first varsity hit) each singling.
Stewart, Hodgdon and Ellison combined on the mound, with eight hits and five strikeouts.
Wiscasset (3-3) is slated to host Madison today at 4:30 p.m.
