LEWISTON — People considering purchasing buildings with residential rental units, or current owners who want to enhance their skills and knowledge, are encouraged to attend “Owning and Managing Residential Rental Properties,” presented by Coastal Enterprises, Inc., with the support of Maine- Housing.

According to a news release, the course will be held May 24, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at St. Mary’s Hospital, 99 Campus Ave., in Lewiston.

The course will cover tenant issues including applications, screening and reference checks, fair housing, leases vs. tenancies at will, security deposits, eviction procedures, along with building issues including property maintenance and repairs, lead and carbon monoxide rules, budgeting, bookkeeping and managing expenses.

Completion of this course fulfills landlord training requirements.

CEI at 882-5177. Pre-registration is required and the $35/person fee covers the cost of written materials and handouts. Registrations will not be accepted after May 21.
