GORHAM – Marshwood scored three runs in the first inning Wednesday and went on to a 5-1 victory against Gorham in a Telegram League baseball game.

Four of the first five batters hit doubles for the Hawks (6-2), including Alex McLean, Luke Fernandes, Matt Brenner and Jack Verrill.

Troy Pappas, who struck out seven, hit an RBI single as Marshwood had five of its six hits in the first.

Nick Greatorex hit two doubles and scored in the third for Gorham (3-4).

LAKE REGION 13, SACOPEE VALLEY 4: Chris Garrish and Kyle Stevens each hit solo home runs for the Lakers (1-7), who used a five-run fourth inning to pull away from the Hawks (1-6) at South Hiram.

Nick York hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs for Sacopee Valley.

THORNTON ACADEMY 8, NOBLE 6: Dillon Dunbar knocked in three runs on a pair of doubles, including the go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning, as the Trojans (4-3) defeated the Knights (4-4) at Saco.

Mason Della-Piana led Noble with two RBI on a pair of singles.

FALMOUTH 8, POLAND 4: Will D’Agostino went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs for the Yachtsmen (6-0), who broke the game open with a five-run first inning and held off the Knights (2-5) at Poland.

Nick Spencer added a double, three RBI and a run, Andrew Emple hit a two-run homer and Addison Fultener drove in two runs for the Yachtsmen.

Corey Cunliffe drove in a pair of runs for Poland.

WAYNFLETE 9, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 4: Isaac Scher drove in two runs, including the go-ahead run in a six-run sixth inning as the Flyers (5-2) rallied past the Seagulls (2-6) at Portland.

Joey Schnier gave up one earned run over six innings and Ryan Carr added a two-run double for Waynflete.

WESTBROOK 2, BIDDEFORD 0: Zach Bean got the better end of a pitchers’ duel for the Blue Blazes (6-1) against Patrick Wilson and the Tigers (4-4) at Biddeford.

Bean and Wilson both struck out seven and walked two.

FREEPORT 11, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: James Purdy and Kaleb Farmer combined on a one-hitter, and the Falcons (6-2) put together two big rallies in a five-inning game against the Rangers (2-5) at Freeport.

Purdy allowed a hit and three walks in the first three innings, and Farmer was perfect in the final two. They combined for five strikeouts.

DEERING 2, BONNY EAGLE 1: Kenny Sweet scored what proved to be the winning run when he stole home in the sixth inning as the Rams (2-5) edged the Scots (3-4) at Standish.

Nick DiBiase scattered six hits and struck out four for the Rams.

GREELY 4, YORK 2: Bailey Train improved to 3-0 as the Rangers (7-0) held off the Wildcats (1-7) at York.

Train, who allowed all of York’s five hits and both runs, had one walk and four strikeouts in five-plus innings.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 8, MT. VIEW 7: Micah Williamson scored from first on Brandon Soper’s double in the seventh inning to lift Medomak Valley (4-3-1) over Mt. View (3-6) at Waldoboro.

LACROSSE

DEERING 15, WINDHAM 2: Matt Flaherty had seven goals and one assist to pace the Rams (5-2) over the Eagles (2-5) at Portland.

Karl Rickett and Anthony Verville added two goals and one assist apiece for Deering. Rickett collected nine ground balls.

BONNY EAGLE 5, BIDDEFORD 3: Ryan Kern, Tyler Campobasso, Nickolas Adkins, Ryan Cannell and James Patchell scored for the Scots (4-3) against the Tigers (0-7) at Biddeford.

Bonny Eagle broke a 3-3 tie in the third quarter and added its final goal in the final minute of the game.

THORNTON ACADEMY 5, SOUTH PORTLAND 3: Kyle Forbes scored the lone goal of the third period, which proved the winner as the Trojans (6-1) beat South Portland (3-5) at Saco.

Five players scored and Brett Levasseur made nine stops for Thornton.

MT. ARARAT 10, MESSALONSKEE 0: Evan Whidden scored with 13 seconds left to break a 9-9 tie and lift Mt. Ararat (4-1) over Messalonskee (4-3) at Oakland.

SCARBOROUGH 19, GORHAM 5: Jon Blaisdell scored four goals and assisted on two others, and Dalton Finley added a pair of goals for the Red Storm (8-0), who took a 14-3 halftime lead and cruised past the Rams (3-5) at Scarborough.

Eliot Gagne finished with two goals and an assist for Gorham.

MARSHWOOD 15, YORK 4: Jeff Graunke scored four goals to help Marshwood (7-1) down the Wildcats (4-1) at York.

Jeff Hatheway and Justin Hockney scored three goals each for the Hawks. Drew Hale added two.

PORTLAND 14, NOBLE 1: Joe Nielsen scored four goals, and Sam Hamilton, Brett O’Kelly and Mike Fuller added two goals apiece as the Bulldogs (3-5) downed the Knights (0-7) at North Berwick.

Sean Shorey scored for Noble.

CHEVERUS 13, WESTBROOK 5: Spencer Amberson finished with four goals and Thomas Lawson scored three to lift the Stags (6-1) over the Blue Blazes (3-4) at Portland.

Nick Schleh and Jack Sutton added two goals apiece for Cheverus, which led 6-2 at halftime.
