OAKLAND — Evan Whidden’s goal with 13 seconds left in regulation lifted the Mt. Ararat High School boys lacrosse team to a 10-9 Eastern A victory over Messalonskee on Wednesday.

Nick Oram scored three goals, Kellen Bonnar added two goals and three assists, and Jeremy Hart two goals and two helpers as Mt. Ararat improved to 4-1. Mt. Ararat is slated to host Edward Little today at 5:30 p.m.

Jonathan Brown and Josh Richards each had one goal and two assists for Mt. Ararat, while goaltender Ed McGuire turned aside 12 shots.

Nate Delguidice led Messalonskee (4-3) with four goals and one assist. Ben Weeks had two goals, while Luke Vigue and Kyle Gleason chipped in one goal each. Messalonskee netminder Ryan Clarke had 10 saves.

The host Shipbuilders improved to 3-2 Wednesday in a game played at Hyde School.

“Morse played more like themselves today,” said Morse coach Jay Paulus. “The offense came out strong, sending several goals in the first couple minutes of the first quarter. Our goalie Alex Small played a terrific game with over 14 saves, but more importantly several great clears, keeping the game fast.

Alexander Paulus led the way with nine goals, four assists and six groundballs, while Zach Hershey had two goals and three assists, Dylan Crowell a goal, assist and two groundballs, Alec Beveridge a goal, assist and three groundballs, Schuyler Mace a goal and seven groundballs, Aaron Nadeau a goal and six groundballs, Max Rawson two groundballs, Matt Buczkowski with three assists and five groundballs, Ethan Mattice four groundballs, Kevin Tolan two groundballs, Jay Saunders two groundballs, Kyle Perry two groundballs and PC Ostergaard a groundball and stellar defense.

Morse’s next game is home Friday with Camden Hills.
