TOPSHAM — A Topsham man was summonsed Friday night after he allegedly broke into a residence on Harmony Hill that same day.
Christopher Lewis, Topsham’s interim police chief, said a small flat-screen television was taken from the home. The homeowner reported the burglary to police Friday at 8:23 p.m.
Officer Robert Ramsay developed suspect information throughout the evening, Lewis said. After collecting information and determining probable cause, Ramsay summonsed Ryan Elwell, 26, of 39 Barrows Drive, charging him with Class C burglary and Class E theft.
Lewis said the Bath Police Department assisted by detaining Elwell after a Bath officer found him walking along Court Street in Bath. Ramsay met the Bath officer there and issued the summons to Elwell, who is scheduled to appear in court on July 10.
Police recovered the television from a location in Bath, Lewis said.
