BERWICK — A man who allegedly robbed a bank and tried to escape on a bicycle was caught in nearby Somersworth, N.H., police said.

According to police, a man entered the Kennebunk Savings Bank branch on School Street about 9:20 Friday morning and handed a note to a teller demanding money. When the teller turned over the money, the man asked for a bag, police said, so the teller gave him a Kennebunk Savings bag.

The man then left the branch, got on a bike and rode off.

Berwick police broadcast a description of the man and police in Somersworth spotted a suspect with a bike, bag and money.

They arrested Scott A. Marshall, 46, of Sanford and, Somersworth police said, he admitted to robbing the bank.

Marshall is being held as a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition to Berwick, where police said he would be charged with robbery.
