To the editor:
On behalf of my family, I would like to express my sincere thanks for the overwhelming support shown by the community at the benefit spaghetti supper and auction held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on April 21.
Thanks to Mike Fish and Michelle Byrnes-Nickles and the members of the organizing committee for the countless hours they spent planning and soliciting donations.
Thank you to the individuals and businesses that donated items for the auction.
Thanks to all the people who volunteered their time setting up, cooking and working at the actual event.
And finally, thank you to all who attended the event and generously purchased items at the auction or mailed in a donation instead.
The outpouring of support was unexpected, but greatly appreciated, and will go a long way in helping with medical costs and my anticipated return to school in the fall.
My family and I will forever owe a debt of gratitude to all the members of this community who came forward so selflessly and greatly lessened the burden on our family during a difficult time.
We will never forget this, and will do our best to pay it forward and pass on the incredible amount of kindness and generosity shown to our family.
Cam Vermette,
Topsham

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
