Mt. Ararat student wins Congressional Art Competition
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Patrick Lynch’s photograph, “Monolith,” recently won the 2012 Congressional Art Competition for the 1st District. Lynch is a senior at Mt. Ararat and lives in Harpswell.
Bath student wins Maine’s Got Talent
BATH — Max Ater was recently declared the fourth winner of the Maine’s Got Talent Competition. With his win, Ater received a $500 cash price and additional performance opportunities. He wowed the judges by singing an original song, “Back to Romance,” while accompanying himself on the keyboard.
Local student makes Dean’s List
Whitney Dano of Topsham was named to the Dean’s List at Virginia Tech University.

The journalists of “Kids Page” newspaper in Brunswick recently donated all of the proceeds of their latest issue to the Mid-Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The issue of the paper included stories on building a backyard hockey rink, interviews with new kids and an advice column called “Dear Izzy.” After it was printed, the children sold dozens of copies to their friends and neighbors.
