BRUNSWICK — Below is a list of scheduled Memorial Day activities in the Mid-coast region. All events occur on Monday unless otherwise noted.

Bath

Bath’s Memorial Day Parade will leave from the Smith-Tobey American Legion hall at 10:30 a.m., following ceremonies earlier in the morning at the Oak Grove Ceremony and Waterfront Park.

At 8 a.m., the post will hold ceremonies at various points in Oak Grove Cemetery, followed at 9:30 a.m. at Waterfront Park with a wreath-laying ceremony.

The 11th annual We Remember observance will begin at noon at City Park.

Brunswick-Topsham

Participants in the Brunswick-Topsham Memorial Day Parade are advised to gather at 7 a.m. at Monument Place in Topsham. The parade will start there at approximately 9 a.m., following the opening ceremony that will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the memorial located in front of the municipal building at 100 Main St. Secretary of State Charlie Summers will be the guest speaker.

The parade will proceed down Main Street in Topsham and across the Frank J. Wood Bridge to Maine Street in Brunswick.

The parade procession will pause for a wreath laying ceremony on the Frank J. Wood Bridge. Commemorative ceremonies will take place after the parade at approximately 10 a.m. on the Brunswick Mall, where Summers will be the guest speaker.

A meal for all veterans will be served after the ceremony by the Brunswick Elks at the Elks Lodge on Park Row.

Dresden

The Lincoln County Historical Association will host its 58th Memorial Day service at the Pownalborough Courthouse at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bruce Alexander of Dresden will lead the service, assisted by Geo. White’s Company, 11th MA Regiment, a living history re-enactment group.

A service in the courthouse cemetery will honor the soldiers of three wars buried there. Participants will then return to the courthouse for the raising of colors to full staff with a gun salute given by White’s Company.

Freeport

A Memorial Day parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. and leave from Freeport High School at 9:30 a.m., traveling north on Main Street to School Street. The parade will proceed down School Street, but participants are advised to go to Memorial Park on Bow Street for a memorial service beginning at 10 a.m. in the park.

In the event of rain, the memorial service will be held in the Freeport High School auditorium.

The second annual Main Street Mile jog and run will start at Freeport Middle School, 19 Kendall Lane.

The jog/walk portion of the event is set to start at 8 a.m., and the run is set to begin at 8:30 a.m., heading north from the middle school and ending at Freeport Public Library.

Registration is $15 per person on the day of the race and only cash will be accepted.

Harpswell

A special Memorial Day wreath ceremony and parade escorted by a Mt. Ararat High School marching band will both take place Monday morning to pay tribute to current and past American military veterans.

At 10:30 a.m., American Legion Post 171 plans to throw a wreath from the Ewing Narrows Bridge into Harpswell Sound to honor veterans lost at sea.

Following that, a town parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., leaving from Lookout Point Road and Route 123, proceeding south on Route 123 to Allen Point Road.

Around 11:30 a.m., a special ceremony at the town monument in Harpswell Center will feature an invocation by pastor Wesley Murphy, a rendition of “Taps” by the Mt. Ararat Trumpeters, singing of the national anthem and the “Star Spangled Banner” by Dorie Barnes and Matt McMahon, a recitation of “In Flanders Field” by Gayle Doyle, a recitation of the “Gettysburg Address” by Harpswell home-school students Rose Davis and Jonathan Nelson, and a speech by Post 171’s Gary Anderson, of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Lisbon

Lisbon’s annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Crafts Transport on Route 196.

Parade participants will begin assembling at 8:30 a.m.

The parade will proceed to Main Street, Lisbon Falls, up Main Street to School Street, to Addison Street, to Campus Avenue, to Berry Avenue, back to Route 196, then to Lisbon High School.

From the high school, buses will transport participants who need rides to Lisbon Elementary School for reassembly. The parade will then proceed down Village Street, Lisbon, to the Veterans Memorial Bridge on Webster Street, then to Coombs- Mountfort Post 158. Those needing rides may ride the buses from Post 158 back to the high school.

Refreshments for the participants will be provided at Post 158, located at 10 Webster Road. Organizations wishing to participate can contact Mona Naragon at 353-6104 or Russ Wrede at 751-0456.

Wreath laying ceremonies are scheduled at Morse Elementary and Lisbon High schools, the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Lisbon and at Post 158.

Pownal

The Pownal Scenic and Historical Society and the town of Pownal will dedicate the town’s first municipal flag pole with celebrations, speeches and patriotic song at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mallett Hall on Route 9.

Richmond

At 7 a.m., Emerson-Lane American Legion Post 132 members will set out to conduct ceremonies at eight cemeteries: Cotton Cemetery on Route 197 in Richmond; Evergreen Cemetery in Richmond; the cemetery on Route 197 just across the bridge in Dresden; Maple Grove Cemetery on Indian Road in Dresden; Maxwell Cemetery on Route 24 in Bowdoinham; the cemetery across from Bowdoinham Community School; the Bay View Cemetery on Route 24; and a cemetery on White Road.

Taps will be played and wreaths will be laid at each cemetery. A seven-member rifle squad will conduct a 21- gun salute.

The annual Memorial Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the entrance to Richmond High School. Participants will travel down Main Street to Waterfront Park for a memorial ceremony, which will include laying a wreath in the river in honor U.S. service members lost at sea. The flag will be raised at noon.

Following the parade, participants are invited to American Legion Post 132 on Carding Machine Road for refreshments.

Topsham

American Legion Post 202 will hold a memorial service in honor of members of the post’s legion, auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion who have died in the past six years.

The names will be read, followed by ringing of a bell. A rifle squad will fire a threerifle volley, and taps will be played.

The public is invited. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

Wiscasset

A Memorial Day dedication is planned at the monument outside of the Town Office at 9 a.m.

The observance is expected to last around 30 minutes, including remarks from a chaplain with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Woolwich

At 7 p.m., the town will hold the 110th annual Memorial Day service at Nequasset Meetinghouse to recognize service members. Music will be provided by Jean Willard and the North Woolwich Methodist Church brass choir.

Light refreshments will follow.
