WALES — Kyle Flaherty scored the game-winning goal with 49 seconds remaining to lift the host Oak Hill Raiders past the Shipbuilders i3-12 in boys lacrosse on Wednesday at Wales.

“It was a very close game all the way through and a tough one indeed, but I would say without hesitation that this was our best game,” said Morse coach Jay Paulus, whose team is 5-6 and visits Camden Hills today in its regular-season finale at 4 p.m. “There was more of a team approach than in an other game this season.”

Alexander Paulus had four goals and one assist to lead Morse, with Dylan Crowell and Matt Buczkowski adding two goals each, and Zach Hershey two goals and two assists. Max Rawson chipped in one goal and one helper, while Aaron Nadeau picked up a goal and Oliver Cruze an assist.

Caleb Provost and Jon Averill led the 7-3 Raiders with three goals each. Matty Martin had 16 saves in the win, while Morse netminder Alex Small turned away nine shots.

The host Falcons fell behind early in dropping an Eastern B contest to visiting North Yarmouth Academy on Wednesday.

Clayton Morrison had two goals for 2-8 Freeport, which is scheduled to host York on Saturday at 10 a.m. Sam Wogan, Dylan Arris and Ryan Camp added a goal each, with Galen Simmons and Griff Breer picking up one assist apiece.

Freeport goaltender Alex Sturtevant turned aside 18 shots.

NYA improved to 6-4.

Josh Richards exploded for four goals and one assist as the visiting Eagles took care of Edward Little (2-10) at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

Mt. Ararat, 9-2 and slated to host Oxford Hills on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., led 3-1 after a quarter, 7-2 at the half and 9-2 through three quarters.

Nick Oram added two goals for the Eagles, with Jonathan Brown, Nick Dow, Will Hirnak and Evan Whidden chipping in a goal each. Hirnak also dished out two assists, with one helper each coming from defenseman Robert Cornelison, Kellan Bonnar and Jeremy Hart.

In goal, Mt. Ararat keeper Ed Maguire had 16 saves through three quarters, with Connor Read playing the final frame and turning aside four shots.

Travis Landry and Brian Uwtechia scored for the Eddies, while netminder Matt Berube had 16 stops.
