FREEPORT — Local author Melissa Coleman will talk about her memoir, “This Life Is In Your Hands: One Dream, Sixty Acres, And a Family’s Heartbreak,” the story of childhood on a farm with her parents, Eliot and Sue Coleman, pioneers of the back-to-the-land movement.

The free public talk is part of Freeport Conservation Trust’s annual meeting, Thursday at 7 p.m. at Freeport Community Center, 53 Depot St.

Coleman’s presentation will make a “growing local” connection between Cape Rosier in the 1970s and Freeport Conservation Trust’s current project to permanently protect Winter Hill Farm, according to a news release.

Winter Hill farmers Sarah Wiederkehr and Steve Burger will be on hand for the talk.
