MT. DESERT — The Morse High School track and field teams competed Saturday in the State Class B meet at Mt. Desert Island.
In the girls meet, Waterville won with a whopping 145 points, followed by Greely (85), Lake Region (45), Winslow (36) and Falmouth (34), while Morse was 13th with 17 points.
A highlight was Kerry Cummings winning the 1600-meter race/walk in 7:36.36, just .04 off the Class B record set by Caribou’s Hannah Saunders.
Also for the Shipbuilders, Savannah Simmons-Grover was fifth in the high jump (5-0) and fourth in the javelin (personal best 99-10).
In the boys meet, York and Falmouth won with 93 points each, followed by Waterville (84), Medomak Valley (50) and Gray-New Gloucester (44), with Morse picking up one point.
Joel Harris took seventh in the high jump (5-08).
