WILTON (AP) — Police say excessive speed was a factor in a single-car crash that killed a 23-year-old man in western Maine.

Paul Caldwell of Jay was killed at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday when his car veered off Route 156 in Wilton and rolled over. Officials say Caldwell was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He was alone at the time.

A blood alcohol test was conducted, a standard procedure in all fatal crashes.

The crash is under investigation.
