EXETER, N.H. — New Hampshire health officials are expected to announce new cases of hepatitis C in its investigation of an outbreak related to Exeter Hospital.
Dr. Jose Montero, state director of public health, will meet with the media Wednesday afternoon to give an update of the investigation.
Last week, health officials announced 10 more patients who had been treated at the hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab had been diagnosed with the liver-destroying virus, bringing the total to 14.
Hepatitis C is a viral infection transmitted by blood. It causes inflammation of the liver that can lead to chronic health issues.
