Due to inclement weather, Wednesday’s sports docket was heavily damaged.
The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) Western Maine Class B and Class D baseball and softball championships have been moved to today.
The Class D baseball championship will start at 3 p.m. at Larry Mahaney Diamond, with the Class B contest to follow at 7 p.m.

Should Richmond prevail, the Bobcats will meet the winner of the East finale between No. 5 Deer Isle-Stonington (18- 0) and No. 3 Penobscot Valley (17-1) at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brewer High School.

The winner of that game will face the winner of the No. 2 Waynflete (11-1) and No. 1 Cape Elizabeth (13-0) Eastern B contest Saturday at 10 a.m. at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
In the Eastern Maine Class A lacrosse ranks, the No 1 Brunswick (13-1) girls are to host No. 6 Cheverus (9-5) at 4 p.m. today for the regional title.
The winner of that game is headed to Fitzpatrick Stadium fora3p.m.clashwiththe winner of the Western matchup between No. 3 Marshwood (11-3) and No. 1 Scarborough (13-1).
Today’s game is a rematch of last year’s East finale, won by host Brunswick, 14-3.
“We are looking forward to playing in the regional final, and the fact that it is a rematch of last year makes it that much more special, and hopefully we can duplicate what the boys team did (9-8 over Brunswick) on Saturday,” said Cheverus coach Jamie Chamberlain. “We know we’ll have to play a solid game in order to do so. Brunswick is a very disciplined team. Which, means we’ll have to play good team defense, take good shots and not turn the ball over to be successful.”
“Cheverus absolutely is a stronger team than last year,” lauded Brunswick coach Beth Caputi. “They graduated very few from last year’s team, so now we are playing a much more experienced, and I would assume, more confident group of girls. We will prepare for them just as we have for all our opponents — focusing on our own strengths.”
Brunswick and Scarborough also met last year for the State Class A championship title, with the Dragons falling 13-11.
