BATH — Cahill’s Tire won a hard-fought, nine-inning battle, slipping past Montsweag Road House, 14-13, in recent Bath Cal Ripken Baseball action.
Nicco Bartone and Brogan Shaw pitched for the victors, each pitching four innings. Bartone struck out 11 and Shaw seven. Robin Krull relieved in the ninth, earning the win with two strikeouts.
Bartone and Shaw led Cahill’s offense with three singles each, while Wade Bradford singled twice and stole home in the ninth for the winning run.
For Montsweag, Dylan Melvin had his best outing this season, going 5.1 innings with 10 strikeouts. Zachery Lay went the final 3.2 inning, striking out nine.
Cameron Footer paced the Montsweag offense with a 3- for-5 performance with two runs scored. Jack Leonard scored three runs and drove in two with a double, while Spencer Dahmen singled twice, walked a pair of times and scored a run.
