PORTLAND – Harry Ridge struck out eight and walked four in a four-hitter Saturday, leading First Title to a 7-0 victory against Andrews Post in an American Legion Zone 4 opener.

Saturday was the opening day for American Legion baseball in Maine.

Drew Ferrick and Nic Lops added three hits apiece for First Title. Ferrick hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs, and Lops scored twice.

OA YARMOUTH 6, SACO & BIDDEFORD SAVINGS-WESTBROOK 0: Spencer Egan threw a four-hit shutout to power OA Yarmouth at Old Orchard Beach.

Egan struck out 13, and Luke Lamagna and Nick Cartnell each had a pair of RBI.

SACO-BIDDEFORD SAVINGS BANK 1, BONANZA 0: Taylor Reuillard had an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth for Saco-Biddeford Savings Bank at Old Orchard Beach.

Patrick Wilson struck out 17 in seven innings for Biddeford. Corey Collard relieved in the eighth and was the winning pitcher. Collard also added three hits.

SACO BAY PHYSICAL THERAPY 7, KENNEBUNK 2: Anthony Sadoriz hit a three-run double to spark a six-run second inning for Saco Bay Physical Therapy at Old Orchard Beach.

Sadoriz finished with two hits, and Chris Cole added three hits and an RBI for Saco Bay.

NOBLE 2, MASSABESIC 1: Brandon Richard had an RBI single — the only hit for Noble at Old Orchard Beach.

Corey Mongiat struck out seven for Massabesic.

FAYETTE-STAPLES 7, STAPLES CROSSING 5: Jeff Gelinas had a pair of hits and drove in two runs, and also allowed one hit over four innings to lead Fayette-Staples at Old Orchard Beach.

Fayette-Staples broke the game open with a four-run first inning that included a two-run single by Dillon Dunbar and an RBI single from Alex Fallon.

JUNIOR LEGION

BATH 4, WINDHAM 3: Riley Kons pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts for Bath in an opener at Windham.

Zach Holbrook had two hits for Bath. Josh Merrill of Windham struck out five in four innings.

BRUNO’S 8, FIRST TITLE 2: Nick DiPalma struck out nine in a four-hitter and also had three hits to lead Bruno’s (1-1) over First Title (0-1) at Portland.

Joe Apon doubled and tripled and finished with three hits for Bruno’s, and Dan Kane added three hits and three RBI.

BIDDEFORD SAVINGS 5, FAYETTE-STAPLES 2: Nick Conley hit a tying two-run double during a five-run second inning for Biddeford Savings (2-0) against Fayette-Staples (0-1) at Biddeford.

Kevin Descoteaux gave up one hit and struck out four over four innings to earn the win, and Randy Vadnais struck out five over three shutout innings of one-hit relief.

OA-YARMOUTH 3, LEWIS-TON 2: Ethan Perrier went 3 for 4 with two doubles for OA-Yarmouth in an opener at Yarmouth.

Jack Amoroso singled in a run for OA-Yarmouth.

SOUTH PORTLAND SWEEPS CHASE CUSTOM HOMES: South Portland (2-0) got a two-hitter from Brad Sowerby in a 6-3 victory against Chase Custom Homes (0-2) in the opener, then scored nine runs in the sixth inning to win the second game 11-10 at Gorham.

Sowerby struck out five and had a pair of hits in the opener. In the second game, South Portland used five walks, five hits and three wild pitches to score nine runs in the sixth.
