FREEPORT — Freeport High School recently released the list of class of 2012 members who graduated summa cum laude with distinction. They are listed alphabetically:

Gabriel Currier is the son of Laura Kargul and David Currier. He was a member of the math team and captain of the Ultimate Frisbee Team. A National Merit Commended Scholar, he plans to attend Pomona College in Claremont, Calif.

The daughter of Stephanie Paine and John Pier, Sarah Henle Pier was a member of Model United Nations, Mock Trial (captain), Freeport Drama, Ultimate Frisbee and National Honor Society.

As high school activities, she listed student government (vice president), Alpine skiing, Westcustago Youth Chorale, and musical theater director at Freeport Middle School.

Her awards include National Merit Finalist, Phi Beta Kappa, Dartmouth Book Award, Honors in Math, English, Global Studies and third place in the Rotary Speech Competition.

She plans to attend Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.

Joshua Richard Weirich is the son of Jane and Richard Weirich. He as a member of the math team, a Seeds of Independence mentor, a freshman mentor and member of the National Honor Society.

He played varsity soccer, baseball and basketball during all four years of high school.

His awards include the WMC Citizenship Award, National Honesty Award, Varsity Baseball Coaches Award, Varsity Basketball Sportsmanship Award and Varsity Basketball Outstanding Player Award.

He plans to attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The following Freeport High School class of 2012 members graduated summa cum laude:

Charles Dakota Baker is the son of Randall Baker. He was president of Student Council and a member of Academic World Quest.

Activities included outdoor track and cross country.

He received 10th and 11th Grade Math awards, the Governor’s Young Writer of the Year 2011 and the Yale Book Award.

He plans to attend Yale University in New Haven, Conn.

Samuel Bennett is the son of Kate Bergquist and Wayne Bennett. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Gay-Straight Alliance.

High school activities included The Clarion, School Musical One-Act Plays and Gay-Straight Alliance.

His awards include the Highest Achievement Award in Latin I, II, III, American Spirit Award-American Studies, Excellence in American Studies English 11 Award, Middlebury College Book Award, Highest Achievement Award in English 9 and the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2011 and 2012.

He plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington.

Jennifer Robin Breau is the daughter of Amy and Dave Breau. She was a member of the National Honor Society, class president and a FHS Mentor. Activities included field hockey and clarinet.

Her high school awards include the Varsity Field Hockey Pride and Character Award, Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, Bates Book Award, Solomon H. Plummer Citizenship Award, American Spirit Citizenship Award, American Studies Humanitarian Award, Gilbert Jenkins Social Studies Award and Excellence in English Award.

She plans to attend Colby College in Waterville.

The son of Susan and Malcolm Collins, Christopher Alan Collins was a member of Seacoast United Soccer Club, Portland Youth Wind Ensemble, Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra, band, jazz band, chamber choir and men’s ensemble.

Activities included soccer, trumpet, piano, singing, Alpine skiing, and Nordic skiing. As a high school award, he lists second place Skimeister.

He plans to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Caitlin Amberlee Keniston is the daughter of Brenda and Dan Keniston. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Model United Nations, math team and Interact Club.

Her high school activities included concert band, Honors Wind Ensemble, fall school musical (pit band member), One-Act Competition, Seeds of Independence mentor, freshman mentor, and hostess and banquet server at the Harraseeket Inn.

She plans to attend Gordon College in Wenham, Mass.

Jared Robert Knighton is the son of Nicky and Brian Knighton. Activities included varsity baseball and varsity football.

For awards, he lists Eagle Scout Award and Football Cambell All-Conference Honorable Mention.

He plans to attend Brigham Young University.

Abigail Marie Latulippe is the daughter of Janice and David Latulippe. She was a member of the drama club and National Honor Society.

As high school activities, she lists technical crew for the FHS musical “Guys and Dolls;” assistant to student director of two middle school plays; Alpine race team, 3 years selected for State Championship Team; FHS Soccer Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation Alpine Race Team, qualified for Nationals Adaptive Race in 2012.

Awards include the Pride and Character Award 2010 Alpine team, Athletic Excellence Award 2011 Alpine team, Pride and Character Award 2009 JV soccer, Athletic Excellence Award 2011 JV soccer, JV soccer Scholar Athlete Award 2010 — High Honors, and the Athletic and Academic Excellence Award- Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

She plans to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.

Angus Moore Macdonald is the son of Elizabeth Moore and Arnold Macdonald. He was a member of the National Honor Society (president), Student Council (treasurer), and RSVP.

Activities included the school’s production of “Guys and Dolls,” and the studentwritten One Act Play, “Carnival of Curiosity.” He also played in the school’s jazz band.

Awards include being a member of the Maine One- Act Festival regional champions, with a special commendation for student writing and directing on the regional and state levels. The cast also collectively won the Ensemble Award on the regional level.

Macdonald plans to attend Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.

Abigail Warner Mahoney is the daughter of Cindy and Scott Mahoney. She was president of FHS Earth Club, a member of National Honor Society, FHS mentoring program, Youth Advocacy Program and Interact Club. Activities included serving as field hockey captain and being chosen for Western Maine All-Conference First Team; Nordic Ski Team, captain; outdoor track; FHS Chamber Choir and Women’s Ensemble; member of Musica de Filia choir in Portland; and Model United Nations.

She received the Art History Award and the Colby Book Award and was a National Merit Scholarship regional commended student.

She plans to attend Bowdoin College in Brunswick.

Hallie M. Ojala-Barrett is the daughter of Emily Ojala and Peter Barrett. She was a member of the Interact Club, Earth Club and the National Honor Society.

Activities included math team, Model United Nations, Nordic skiing, concert band and Coast Youth Orchestra. Awards include Academic Achievement in Honors Algebra I, a Creative Writing Award and Latin Award.

The daughter of Laura and Ray Ramage, Laura Ramage was a member of Seeds of Independence and the Freshman Mentor Program.

Activities included chorus, softball, Nordic skiing, photography and studio art. Awards include the MVP Award for softball for three years in a row; Character Award for Nordic skiing; first and third place in the Maine State Photography Show (2011-2012), and National Honor Society.

She plans to attend Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Claire Wininger Stenzel is the daughter of Kathleen Wininger and Jeffrey Stenzel. She was a member of the Student Tech Team, Science Olympiad and the National Honor Society.

Activities included Model United Nations, Mock Trail, four years of volunteering at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, nine years of horseback riding and shadowing an anesthesiologist and podiatrist.

For awards, she lists the Bausch and Lomb Science Award from the University of Rochester, Computing Medal Award from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Wellesley College Book Award, third place award in epidemiology for Science Olympiad, Model United Nations, Citizenship Award, Honorable Mention in UN Development Program, and notice in Model UN newspaper.

She plans to attend the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y.

Brandon Williams is the son of Bonnie and Daniel Williams. He was a member of Gay-Straight Alliance, Interact Club, Reduce Sexism and Violence Program and Language Club.

Activities included performing in the musical “Guys and Dolls” and the one-act play “Carnival of Curiosity.” Other activities include chorus, Southern Maine Children’s Chorus, National Federation of Music Clubs, Festival Audition, piano solo, private piano lessons, concert band, Wescustago Youth Chorale, Reduce Sexism and Violence Program Retreat, and Rippleffect-Youth Leadership Summit.

Awards include National Federation of Music Clubs, Festival Audition, piano solo — Gold Cup Award.

He plans to attend Wheaton College.
