WISCASSET — The Sheepscot River Race is scheduled to be held June 30, with a start in Newcastle and a finish in Wiscasset.
This six-mile canoe and kayak race, begins at the Newcastle Rest Area on Route 1 at 10 a.m., finishing at the Wiscasset Waterfront.
The event is organized by Seaspray Kayaking, and all preregistered participants will receive a Sheepscot River Race T-shirt.
Canoeing classes include OC 1 men and women, OC 2 men, women and mixed; OC 2 men, women, junior/senior, masters; and war canoes.
Kayaking divisions include K-1 men and women; sea kayak; K-1 men, women, masters and juniors; and Open.
Awards will go to the top three in each class, and the registration fees are $12 (preregistration) and $15 at the Wiscasset Waterfront. Children under 17 are $5. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
A shuttle from the finish line will also be available immediately following the awards ceremony.
