SCARBOROUGH (AP) — Officials with the Mainebased Hannaford Supermarkets chain say they are working to resolve a computer glitch that made it impossible for shoppers to use debit and credit cards at most of the company’s 181 stores in the Northeast.
The problem that started Thursday was expected to be resolved by this morning.
A chain spokesman tells the Portland Press Herald the problem is not related to a 2008 data breach that compromised the credit and debit card numbers of millions of customers. He called the latest problem an “operational issue.”
Signs were posted at affected stores.
