FREEPORT — The Town Council has chosen two finalists in the search to replace Town Manager Dale Olmstead.

They are James Doar, town manager of Bethel, and Peter Joseph Jr., town manager of Lincoln, N.H., according to a news release.

The council will interview the finalists on July 9. Olmstead, who has been town manager for 30 years, will retire this fall.

The finalists and their wives will visit the town on July 12, when each candidate will meet with town department heads during the day.

That evening, each candidate will meet with citizens during an informal public gathering at the Freeport Community Center. Joseph will be there from 6 to 7 p.m. and Doar will be there from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

The council plans to meet July 19 to further discuss the candidates.

Residents who attend the public gathering and wish to provide feedback on the candidates are asked to email their comments to dgerrish@eatonpeabodyconsulting.com.

All comments will be given to the council.
