• The 43rd summer season at the Theater at Monmouth kicks into full swing this week, with the opening of the Moliere comedy “Tartuffe.” It previews at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday and continues at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Also on stage is the children’s show “The Little Prince,” which opened last week and continues through Aug. 17. This week, “The Little Prince” will play at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Looking ahead, Monmouth opens Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona” on July 12, Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie” on July 19 and Shakespeare’s “Henry IV, Part I” on July 26.

• In Portland and Brunswick, Fenix Theatre Co. is preparing its show of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” The company presents free performances at 6:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturday, July 20 to Aug. 11, at Deering Oaks Park in Portland and at 6 p.m. Thursdays, July 19 to Aug. 9, on the Quad at Bowdoin College.
